My great, great, great grandmother, Martha Burnett, was rumored to be an orphaned child of a local Native American tribe. Family lore states that Greenbury Burnett adopted her and she then married Joseph Tomlinson. I have researched into the Burnett family because even though she was adopted, I consider Greenbury's family my family. There is Y-DNA information on the male line online.

Mother's side | Abigail Justus (2), William (1)
William Reade immigrated to Massachusetts in the 1630s and settled in Woburn, MA. His daughter married into the Wyman family. William's father has not been proven by solid sources. However, others have linked him to Sir Thomas Reade and Mary Brockett, of Brockett Hall. If you follow the genealogy from there it leads you to Edward II, King of England as my 26X grandfather. Considering that I read that over 33% of England's population is related to John of Gaunt, Edward's grandson, I don't put too much stock into being possibly related to royalty. In addition, researchers stretch to show royal ancestry so I am unable to accept the results of those who try to connect William to Thomas Reade without concrete birth records. A book written in 1937 claims ancestry to royalty, but without any sourcing.
Mother's paternal side: (1) grandfather (2) Martin Schneider (3) Elise Schneider (4) Elizabeth Ring. This is a branch of my family tree that I am currently researching. My great great grandmother was born in Sugenheim, Germany and settled in Rudenhausen, where the family settled. I am not sure yet if the family lived in Sugenheim at one time or if my great great great grandmother, Elizabeth Ring, was just working there in a house. I will be researching further soon.
To be added. I do want to mention that this Rolfe family is NOT related to John Rolfe of Pocahontas fame.

Mother's side | mother (6), grandfather (5), Martin (4), Elizabeth/Elise (3), Johann (2), Magdalena (1)
This Schneider branch immigrated from a small village in Bavaria, Germany. My great grandfather immigrated in the early 1920s to Rochester, NY from Rudenhausen, Germany. Most of this branch family continues to call the state of New York their home. The father of my great grandfather remains a mystery, as his baptism records do not name his father and all US documents list the father's name as "unknown". In order to dig into my great grandfather's history on his mother's side, it was required for me to contact the archives administrator for his hometown. The administrator was amazing and provided me a family tree with a bit more information that what I had already uncovered.
Father's side |
